We are all aware of the impact that our environment has on our health and wellbeing. From the ocean to the mountains, forests and waterfalls, we are constantly exposed to negative ions. But what are negative ions and what effect do they have on our bodies?Negative ions are molecules that are created when air molecules break down due to sunlight, radiation, and the movement of air and water. Once they reach the bloodstream, negative ions are believed to cause biochemical reactions that increase serotonin levels, a mood-enhancing chemical, which can help reduce depression, stress and boost energy.
Contrary to their name, negative ions have a positive effect on air, human health and overall wellbeing. Negative ions enter the body mainly through the respiratory and skin tracts. They assist with exchanges between cells and the absorption of oxygen into the lungs. Prolonged exposure to them can lead to tension, irritability, anxiety, depression, lethargy, and even allergies and asthma. Fortunately, negative ions have the opposite effect, and research suggests that they are highly beneficial for health. A study that looked into the influence of negative air ions on performance and mood found that people had faster reaction times and felt more energetic in negative air ion conditions than in normal air.
In a controlled environment experiment, air ionization also reduced fine particles (PM) by 70% to 75%.Some types of air ionizers have been proven to remove airborne particles, dust, cigarette smoke, pet dander, pollen, mold spores, bacteria, and viruses. The main purpose of air ionizers in general and TEQOYA ionizers in particular is to disperse negative ions capable of purifying the surrounding indoor air from different contaminants that can be harmful to health. Negative ion lamps are also available for purchase. They claim that these lamps emit negative ions that increase serotonin levels, improving mood, alertness, anxiety and even depression. This research was funded by the Singapore Millennium Foundation project “Biobased strategies to improve indoor air quality by increasing the negative release of air ions”. To reproduce these effects in my medical office's indoor air, I decided to try an ionizer device that not only has the expected effects on wellbeing but also reduces the presence of microbes, microcontaminants and allergens in the indoor air that my patients breathe. In conclusion, it is evident that negative ions have a positive effect on our bodies.
They can help reduce stress levels and improve our moods while also purifying our indoor air from harmful contaminants. If you're looking for a natural way to improve your health and wellbeing then consider investing in an ionizer device or lamp.
